Adjective là một tính từ dùng để diển tả một danh từ hay đại danh từ.
• Để diển tả một danh từ - Ví dụ như, nếu tôi nói "Thuận is a lovely girl" trong câu nói này "lovely" là tính từ vì nó diển tả Thuận rất dễ thương.
  
  
• Để diển tả Thuận theo cách một đại danh từ, tôi có thể nói thêm "She is a cheerful person"; cho thấy "She" là một đại danh từ thay cho tên "Thuận" hay Thuận, và "cheerful" là một từ diển tả "cô ta" là một người vui vẻ, hớn hở ...
  

2. Adjectives prototypically function as help (modifies)

Adjective cũng là một tính từ có công dụng đầu tiên là đổi dạng hay trợ giúp một danh từ mà thôi ! Adverbs modify everything except a noun. Adjectives modify nouns and only nouns. (Không như một trạng từ - trạng từ có thể thay đổi tất cả ngoài trừ danh từ - Tính từ thì ngược lại nó đổi dạng một danh từ và chỉ có danh từ mà thôi !) Ví dụ: Fat lady. Green carpet. Expensive car.
